Found Review is a publication for art criticism that uses only found material. The readymade as art criticism, the found object as found review – that is the guiding principle. This has little in common with criticism in the traditional sense of the word: the systematic analysis, the making of distinctions and the passing of judgment. Yet it reflects and expounds a practice which has become one of the most generalized procedures of artistic production today (the found object, the collision of meaning), and which can even be traced in certain theoretical and art historical projects of the past.

Whether the arranged encounters of Found Review will remind its readers of montage works or meetings on dissecting tables, imaginary museums or image atlases, it will always stand in relation to the notion of a criticism that extends the artistic work. As the German romantic poet, literary critic, and philosopher Friedrich Schlegel once said:
”A critical judgment of an artistic production has no civil rights in the realm of art if it isn’t itself a work of art.”

Found Review is based Stockholm. It is updated according to its own irregular logic, and comes out with four issues a year (if time permits). Contributors include art critics, artists, writers and others.
